CBPES CENTRAL BORDER REGION PES SEMINAR
The Cross Border Partnership for Employment Services Team had their 2nd PES Seminar of the year on Thursday 16th November covering the Central Border Region Public Employment Services Seminar which took place in the Cavan Crystal Hotel, Co Cavan.
Employment Supports and Front Counter staff from both the Department of Social Protection and Department for Communities were in attendance to exchange valuable work practices, learn how the Cross Border Partnership supports Cross Border Jobseekers, Employers & Workers and foster insightful discussions on cross border employment issues. The counties represented were Cavan, Monaghan, Sligo, Leitrim, Tyrone and Fermanagh.
Once again, we would like to thank our two guest speakers:
- Martin Casey, from Cross Border Solutions, who provided expert information and insights into Cross Border labour mobility. We discussed the opportunities cross border working can present, along with some real life scenarios relating to the complex situations that can arise when cross border working.
- Aisling Cartmill, who is a member of the CBPES Steering Committee and the Cross Border Adviser based in the Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre. Aisling's presentation explained how BURC represents the Irish Congress of Trade Unions on the Cross Border Partnership and the supports they provide through Sector Specific English language courses funded through CBPES.
